Cottage decoration Val d’Anniviers

Written by Thomas Crauwels
decoration of the room chalet mountain chic and cosy
A wind of freedom blows over Val d’Anniviers, in the Valais Alps. The valley is known to offer a breathtaking view of the Imperial Crown. This nature, still preserved and in its raw state, convinced Michel and Alex to acquire a magnificent wooden chalet. For the interior decoration, they opted for an authentic yet contemporary atmosphere, with a wall decoration composed of black and white mountain photos.

Mountain chalet decoration, to each room its frame wall decoration

The Anniviers valley, located in the canton of Valais, is very well known to winter sports and summer hiking enthusiasts. In particular for its five emblematic summits at an altitude of more than 4000 m. It is on the spot that I had the pleasure to meet Michel and Alex, during the hanging of the 3 prints artworks in limited edition that they had selected for the decoration of their mountain for the decoration of their mountain chalet. The transformation of the interior design of this Swiss chalet was impressive. Without using an interior decorator, they succeeded in giving a soul to this warm and modern place.

3 rooms, 3 atmospheres of mountain chic decoration

Just open the front door of the wooden chalet to discover the first photo, and you'll see that the owners love thewinter atmosphere of their decoration of their chalet. This mountain picture is in vertical format, 70×105 cm. At once mysterious, abstract and contemporary in its graphic treatment, the edge of the Dent Blanche captures the visitor from the very first seconds. L'photo frame The "Prestance bois noir" picture frame on this wood mural was chosen to contrast with the fir-tree color Light. The black border lends even greater purity to the white of the snow.

Wall decoration of an adult room

I discover the new guest room, completely revamped and rearranged. The two small children's rooms have been transformed into one large room, to welcome friends and family. Here too, no interior designer, Michel and Alex were inspired by decorating magazines for this project.

The print selected art is a mountain panoramain black and white, size 60×180 cm. This framed photo of summits from Val d’Anniviers fits perfectly into the clean and natural room. It even looks like it was made especially for her, with its sprinkling of clouds and mist. This is what seduced the owners when they ordered it.

The frame Prestance oak color is not without reminding the wall covering wood openwork very current. But also the headboard, the bedside and the oak parquet Light. Thecocooning atmosphere is soothing and very welcoming.

Different atmosphere in the corridor

The summits of Val d’Anniviers are also in the spotlight in the hallway, with a image of mountains in winter, in panoramic format 60×180 cm as in the room. The character of summits is clearly displayed. They express their grandeur and assert their power. As you go down the stairs, the summits of the Imperial Crown are offered to the contemplation, and give a sovereignty to this corridor which had no real soul before the installation of this mountain picture.

L'photo frame is also a frame from the Prestance range in oak color, like the woodwork and the parquet. It brings a little softness and contrast on this white wall. Note the two spotlights and their direct lighting on this decorative wall panel. A nice spotlight on this silent, but life-size theater scene.

mountain chalets Works of art as a family heirloom

In the heart of the Alps, an old chalet lies huddled against the mountainside like a hibernating bear. Inside, the golden light of the fireplace dances over woodwork weathered by the decades. On the walls, old paintings and sepia photographs silently whisper the story of a lineage. Each piece is more than a decoration - it's a fragment of soul handed down from hand to hand through the ages.
