Heritage of Above Art exhibition at the Bucherer Gallery

Written by Thomas Crauwels
Between watches and jewelry, the works of Thomas Crauwels sublimate the walls of the Bucherer Gallery

At the beginning of 2023, I had the great pleasure of exhibiting my work at the Bucherer Gallery. The Heritage of Above art collection joined forces with Bucherer's most remarkable creations to offer visitors a moment of grace in the glory of the Alps and their presence.

Heritage of Above | Exhibition of works by Thomas Crauwels at the Bucherer Gallery

From January to April 3, 2023, the Heritage of Above collection will be on display at the Bucherer Gallery. What an honor to be welcomed by this historic house! This exhibition marks an important step in the development of my work and my career as an artist. And this honor is all the more powerful because it has taken shape around a common cause: preserving the memory of the Alps, safeguarding the heritage of the mountains and highlighting this exceptional heritage.

The mountain painting Mönch and Jungfrau is reflected in a splendid mirror at Bucherer.

That's the mission I've set myself. That is my sole ambition. To highlight the grandeur of the Alps and their incredible majesty. The photographic exhibition honored the impressive Dents du Midi, the mythical Mönch and Jungfrau, the Matterhorn so dear to my heart, the dazzling Nadelgrat, theObergabelhorn and the Dent d'HérensWeisshorn and its fabulous ridge, and of course the sovereign of the Alps, the famous Mont Blanc. In this scenography, I wanted to take you to meet some of the most sumptuous peaks in the world. I wanted to take you on a journey to the heart of a celestial kingdom where ice and rock proclaim their splendor. I wanted to give you the unique experience of suddenly coming face to face with nature's queen. The supreme artist who redesigns mountains into masterpieces. The ecstasy of the heights that I try to immortalize with my art.

A mountain painting by Thomas Crauwels and the book Heritage of Above are on display at the Bucherer Gallery.

Contemplating it in this way, the mountain is overwhelming. And when you combine its presence with the refinement of the watches on display, the harmony is perfect and the atmosphere divine. Imagine how the power of the lines and the depth of the textures of the Alps' most beautiful summits suddenly echo the precision of the mechanisms of a prestige watch. Light and shadow, in a magical dance, sculpt the mountains as Bucherer's jewels sparkle with purity. Contemplating the masterful watches displayed on either side of my work, the unchanging cadence of time as it passes was obvious to all. Like the precise moment I strive to capture when nature reveals the secrets of its soul. Like the eternity of a flamboyant world where the highest summits in the Alps seem to reach for the sky. Like the fragile destiny of these rock giants whose ice is inexorably melting.

The success of this exhibition would not have been possible without the invaluable collaboration of the Bucherer Gallery teams. My special thanks go to Teixeira Antonio and Pamela Bisceglia. The Heritage of Above collection has been brought to light by Bucherer, and is now flying off to new horizons.
