At 4,122 metres, the Aiguille Verte stands proudly among the 4,000-metre peaks of the Mont Blanc massif, dominating the Chamonix valley with its sharp, vertiginous silhouette. Its pyramidal shape is inevitably reminiscent of the Matterhorn. But there's more to La Verte than its main summit : it extends into a high-altitude ridge formed by two other 4000-meter peaks, the Aiguille du Jardin and the Grande Rocheuse, giving the whole an almost sacred majesty.
Thomas Crauwels sees the Aiguille Verte as both a fascinating and formidable muse. Its steep slopes and tapering edges offer a playground as demanding as it is bewitching, where the quest for perfect light becomes an epic in its own right. The striking contrasts between the dark rock and the white of the eternal snow, punctuated by the ballet of the clouds, create a unique, almost mystical atmosphere.
Through his lens, Thomas captures the intensity of these high places, where verticality becomes a challenge and contemplation a privilege. The Aiguille Verte, proud guardian of the Mont Blanc massif, is revealed in all its splendor, inviting us to an intimate encounter with the raw forces of the mountain and the deep emotion that arises from altitude.
The ascent of these 3 summits during the summer of 2024 will remain a moment engraved forever in Thomas's heart and memory.
