Corno Nero
Incisive and elegant, Corno Nero (4,321 m) stands like a rocky bastion amid the glacial world of Monte Rosa on its Italian side. Its name, literally meaning "Black Horn", evokes the dark presence of its steep walls, which contrast with the surrounding whiteness. Small in size among the massif's 4000 peaks, it is nonetheless a summit with a strong personality, prized by climbers for its short but intense ascent.
For Thomas CrauwelsCorno Nero is a point of convergence between light and shadow. In his photographs, he stages this meeting of dark mineral and bright snow, creating a play of striking contrasts. Each ridge, each rocky gendarme, takes on an almost sculptural dimension, revealing the raw beauty of the high mountains.
Despite its apparent modesty, Corno Nero conceals a unique atmosphere, tinged with austerity and mystery. In the moments he captures, Thomas invites us to go beyond mere performance to experience the pure emotion of an ascent, where verticality becomes a bridge to contemplation and wonder.
