At the dawn of a new day, needles bewitch me. Blaitière, Le Fou, les Ciseaux and Pointe Lépiney. It's winter 2015. Just at the start of my photographic career, the Mont Blanc massif beckons me to immortalize its celestial beauty. Month after month, I travel to the Chamonix valley and wait, watch and analyze. I wait to seize the moment of grace. By this time, I already understood that the moments I love to capture come along only a few days a year.

Day breaks, the mountain rises proudly. The needles touch the heavens, a marvellous painting has just been born. The summits are tinged with light, but the wind has already swept away the snow that fell the day before. Usually focused on photographing summits plastered in white, I decided that day to immortalize the mountain in a different light. The clouds stir and the show begins. The mist dances around summits, the shadows of the mountains cast.

This rare, timeless black-and-white photograph transports us to the heart of the most beautiful mountain peaks at Chamonix. Beyond their mass of rock and snow, they arouse intense emotions in us. Their verticality impresses me. The summits peaks reach out and stretch their edges towards a silent firmament. Where the earth aspires to become heaven, the peaks rise, proud and immortal. An ode to verticality, an austere mountain. A whole universe is revealed in this shadow. Look at these peaks: what do you see? A cry from the mountain, echoing our own call.
