Aiguille des Deux Aigles
Twin Peaks
About the work
I took this photograph from the famous Aiguille du Midi. On a clear day, the Chamonix needles form a sharp set of teeth that rip through the sky, leaving little chance for the Deux Aigles to stand out. But the clouds give the picture a special setting. Isolating summit from its surroundings, it suddenly becomes the hero of a captivating journey to the heavens. The magic of the mist gives life to this intense, striking portrait.
In this color photograph of the Aiguille des Deux Aigles, I wanted to highlight the exceptional hue of its rocks. Orange rubs shoulders with grey in the absolute purity of its celestial environment. The graphic design of the work magnifies the implacable beauty of this inaccessible peak. The verticality of the needle, sharp and sumptuous, impresses and stuns the viewer.
When I contemplate this sharp point, I can only dream of the feeling of plenitude one must feel upon reaching its summit. Unfortunately, I'll probably never be able to do it. It's extremely difficult to climb, and only the greatest mountaineers can climb it. By climbing its walls, they elevate themselves spiritually, surpassing their limits to touch the stars. What infinite good fortune!
