Green Needle
Mystic frontier
About the work
I took this portrait of the mountain at First snows in winter 2019. For several days now, a furious storm had been raging across the Mont Blanc massif. No matter how closely I watched the weather, there was no sign that the worst was over. So, despite the chaos caused by the winds, I decided to take a chance and join summits. Knowing from experience that even in the dead of night, there's always hope. And when I arrived in front of the Aiguille Verte, like a gift from nature, I suddenly saw it emerge from the clouds, completely frosted.
On this tormented winter's afternoon, the elements came together to offer me the most grandiose of spectacles. The mighty rock, the immaculate snow, the clouds soaring at summit , the reckless winds and the sparkling light. The Aiguille Verte is adorned for a few moments with incredible textures, before the sun transforms the landscape once again. I love these rare moments of supreme beauty. But isn't the intensity of these encounters precisely linked to their evanescence? And what a privilege it is to be able to bear witness to them!
