Chamonix Aiguilles
In the heart of the Frost
About the work
In the foreground of the photograph, the Aiguille de Blaitière rises sparkling. Then, the mountain takes hold of our gaze. From the Aiguille des Ciseaux, it takes us to the Aiguille du Fou and Pointe Lépiney. The journey continues towards Dent du Caiman, Dent du Crocodile, Aiguille du Plan and Aiguille des Deux Aigles. The ridge then continues to the right as far as the fabulous Aiguille du Midi. Contemplating summits , Mont Blanc dominates the picture, a magisterial colossus dressed for the occasion in its velvet coat. In front of him can be seen Mont Maudit and Mont Blanc du Tacul, with the Goûter ridge looming on the horizon. To his left, jagged and implacable, the Aiguilles du Diable give way to the Grand Capucin and Tour Ronde. The spectacle is breathtaking, the symphony regal. The mountains overlap and intermingle to offer the world their most beautiful dance.
I love the contrast of rock and snow. The creation of impetuous winds that suddenly reveal the complex nature of the high mountains. Between light and shadow, demanding and generous. From the most intense white to the deepest black, the Alps reveal themselves here through their angular lines and sovereign rifts. And the willful peaks rise to the sky like the invulnerable bastions of omnipotent nature.
