Chamonix Aiguilles
The Dance des summits
About the work
I took this portrait of the mountains at dawn, after the passage of a winter storm. Haunted by the tenacious desire to immortalize the splendor of these mythical summits , I made repeated visits to the foot of the Aiguille. I waited and waited, longing to be the privileged witness of this magical moment. That day, when the first rays of sunlight shone on summits, a sea of clouds covered the valley. I had the incredible good fortune to be above the mist to admire the extraordinary work that nature had secretly sculpted during the night.
In this photograph, I love the deep, delicate light, which wonderfully highlights the texture of the frosted rock and its snowy mantle. It reveals the features of a pure, charismatic mountain. The impressive chiseling of its ridges cuts through the horizon. The gentle contrasts also highlight the grandeur and power of the Aiguilles de Chamonix, which soar beyond the clouds and seemingly reach for the sky.
These legendary mountains make me dream. Because of their incredible beauty, of course, but also because they are extremely difficult to climb. Inaccessible peaks I'd love to reach summit. One day, perhaps. The beauty of life lies in the fact that anything is possible. What you might not think achievable one day may become so over time. We evolve, we grow, we improve. Thanks to the strength of our imagination and willpower, we are constantly pushing back our limits. That's how I see photography. How far am I prepared to go to admire the fascinating beauty of the high mountains? I choose to cling to this ideal, to return again and again to contact with summits to, one day, achieve ecstasy. To capture nature's unique and precious breath in my lens. The apotheosis of a long journey that has led me to glimpse the soul of the mountain, celestial and unchanging.
