Aiguilles Dorées
Shadow and Light in Trient
About the work
It's 2012 and I'm still discovering the mountains. How beautiful Aiguilles Dorées must be under the summer sun! Their name inspires me, and I'm already dreaming of the play of light and silvery grays. I decide to set up camp at the Trient hut to wait for the moment when the massif reveals its deepest glow. Three days go by before the miracle happens. Three days during which I suffer an intense migraine, as my body is not yet acclimatized to the high mountains. But despite the pain, I continue my quest. Contemplating summits without ever failing. My passion for heights is already stronger than anything.
Until, at the end of the day, I sense the moment I've been waiting for. As the winds pick up aloft, clouds invade the horizon. Dancing in front of the sun to the rhythm of the storm, they form moving shadows on the Trient glacier. Redrawing the landscape and giving a new look to Aiguilles Dorées. Fascinated by such splendor, I wait for the arrival of this special shadow. A unique reflection that will convey all the majesty of this thousand-year-old massif. Admire the power of granite and the splendor of ice. The soaring clouds and the force of the winds. Elements that collide and merge in the setting sun in honor of eternal wilderness.
