Aletschhorn
Guardian of the Eternal Glaciers
About the work
Under the first light of day, the Aletschhorn is reborn after the storm. A bed of mist inspires it to reach for the sky. The mountain then guides us beyond the clouds into a realm where only purity shines. As a photographer devoted to the Alps and their dance, I was able to sublimate the scene that day.
What memories this work brings back! For me, the ascent of the Aletschhorn was an unforgettable expedition. From the Hollandia hut, I made my way up to the Sattelhorn before traversing the ridge that crosses the Kleines Aletschhorn. By the time I reached summit on the Aletschhorn, I was exhausted. The weight of the skis on my back had taken its toll. But my happiness was stronger than anything else. I'd made it, here I was, on this impenetrable peak in the heart of the Valais Alps. Before skiing back down to the Mittelaletschgletscher, I took one last look at this magnificent landscape and thanked the heavens for giving me the chance to experience such an adventure.
On the right-hand side of the picture, the Hollandia hut is an undetectable trace. A symbol of our insignificance in the face of the immensity of the Alps. In this mountain hut perched at an altitude of 3,245 metres, this large-format painting awaits you. If you take a closer look, you'll discover an inaccessible and prodigious mountain. The Aletschhorn in its snowy mantle, its sumptuous north face and the Grosser Aletschfirn flowing at its feet. From the hut, your only ambition is to reach summit of this grandiose summit . The Aletschhorn, the elusive colossus of the Valais Alps.
