A captivating portrait ofAllalinhorn, in the Mischabels massif. The mountain dominates the valley of Saas Fee, in the Swiss Alps. Allalinhorn summits is one of the Alps' most easily climbed peaks, at over 4,000 metres. Yet the dramatic intensity of this black-and-white photograph makes it seem inaccessible. Through my work, I elevate mountains to the status of legends. By choosing the right angle and the right moment, I capture their incredible grandeur.

As a mountain photographer, I immortalize summits when the atmosphere changes. When the storm clears, when the clouds disperse, revealing transfigured rock faces. When the elements collide to give life to another, marvellous and ephemeral reality. When nature adorns the rock with pure snow, sparkling with beauty under the first rays of the sun. See the sumptuous folds in the white mantle ofAllalinhorn. Between light and shadow, the verticality of the mountain is exacerbated.

I did this work in spring, during one of the rare storms of 2020. After such snowfalls, avalanches multiply. Man has no place in this scene. The only trace of his existence is a cross at summit onAllalinhorn. Contemplating it brings back memories for those of you lucky enough to have climbed it. Subjected to these exceptional conditions, the mountain has returned for a time to its wild state. Dangerous, it is all the more attractive. A fatal and bewitching beauty. But we must resist the siren song Soft . Stay away from her, contemplate her from afar. For nature spares us nothing. I bring you this photograph.
