Bernina Massif
Renaissance
About the work
A new day slowly dawns over the majestic Bernina massif. This massif, which holds a precious place in my heart, is home to the most easterly 4000-meter summit in the Alps: the illustrious Piz Bernina, sublimated by its legendary Biancograt. On this unique morning, the entire panorama unfolds before us, taking us on an extraordinary visual journey.
The chain begins on our left with the splendid Piz Palü, then continues to the spectacular terrace of the Bellavista, a must-see on our return from the ascent of Piz Bernina. Next comes the majestic Piz Zupò, then the culminating summit , Piz Bernina, dominated by the timeless elegance of the Biancograt, and finally the discreet Piz Boval.
The first rays of sunlight illuminate the summits after a recent storm. The clouds still in the sky create a striking contrast between the bright light of the peaks and the deep shadows of the tormented sky. This precious moment owes its existence to these singular weather conditions. Without the presence of the clouds, the emotion captured by this work would not have been possible.
In this painting, I seek to express all the purity and power of the mountains, to convey that deep feeling that plunges us into the heart of these Alpine giants. The freshly fallen snow reveals every detail, accentuating the dynamism and intensity of this exceptional massif overlooking St. Moritz.
This photograph brings back vivid memories of the summer of 2024, when I crossed these mythical peaks. The Biancograt, the Bernina summit , the Bellavista terrace, right up to Piz Palü, each summit is the silent guardian of adventures etched forever in my memory.
