A majestic black-and-white portrait of Bietschhorn, an iconic mountain in Switzerland's Lötschental valley. Located on the right bank of the Rhône Valley in the canton of Valais, it is geologically attached to the bernese alps massif. Rising to an altitude of 3,934 metres, it can be easily admired from the Hockenhorn ski area, as well as from the Lötschenpass and its refuge, the Lötschenpasshütte.

This beautiful photograph shows Bietschhorn in all its glory. Its walls, freshly snow-whitened by the violence of winter's precipitation, light up the horizon. I'd love to climb this summit one day. But it's not easy to discover. Isolated in the heart of the wilderness, it takes a long time to get there. Nicknamed the King of the Valais, it dominates the horizon, yet doesn't blend in with the rest of the world.

The photographic work owes its beauty to the play of lines and light that sculpt the mountain. I had to be there at the right moment to sublimate its forms. To trigger my camera at the precise moment when the sun was illuminating just some of its faces, endowing the picture with deep contrasts. Between light and shadow, the image reveals the perfect symmetry of summit. The portrait's exceptional graphic design highlights the mountain's impressive silhouette. An inspiring pyramid with perfect contours, reigning over the Valais and reaching for the heavens.
