Matterhorn - Dent Blanche - Dent d'Hérens
The Alpine Pyramids
About the work
The Dent Blanche was nicknamed the "monstrous coquette" by Maupassant. The name suits her so well here, as she appears so majestic and gigantic. It's winter, just after the storm. Frosted by the icy wind and snow that swept over her summit, she rises, fascinating, through the clouds. I was there at just the right moment to capture this magical moment when the mountain is reborn from chaos, touched by the last clouds.
I've been lucky enough to climb summits , and I never tire of exploring its reliefs. Feeling their rocks under my feet gives me a very different feeling from the emotion I feel when I observe them from a distance. They appear like granite fortresses, powerful and unchanging. I love these high summits not only for their altitude, which takes us beyond the world of man, but also for their distinctive aesthetic, both graphic and carnal. These mythical mountains reign over the Valais Alps like pyramids, both sumptuous and immortal. Their razor-sharp faces rise like vertical walls, with vertical drops of over 1,000 metres. Their form is disproportionate and their beauty unparalleled.
