Matterhorn
immaculate purity
About the work
From the Gornergrat, I captured the pure, timeless essence of the Matterhorn. Rising to 4,478 meters in the Valais Alps, it is revealed here as a perfect pyramid, a dazzling Alpine jewel beneath its freshly snow-covered robe. This black-and-white photograph captures the precious moment when the mountain reveals itself in all its simplicity, stripped of all artifice. A suspended moment, just after the winter storm that repainted its walls in immaculate white. The Matterhorn appears before us with startling precision, every detail highlighted by the delicate contrast between fresh snow and dark rock. Here we can see the North Face, famous for its technical challenges.
This photograph fascinates me by the purity of its lines, the elegance of its shades of grey and the subtlety with which fresh snow envelops every rocky fold. The mountain seems to have been delicately dusted, highlighting the gentle curves and rough asperities that make up this almost perfect pyramid. Here, the Matterhorn no longer seems just a mountain, but a sculpted work of art, shaped by the elements over the millennia.
I particularly like this work because it captures a moment of absolute grace, when the Matterhorn imposes its charismatic, grandiose presence. Before him, we feel a deep emotion, an admiration that borders on devotion. In this serene harmony between sky and rock, snow and light, lies everything I wish to express through my art: the majesty of a summit that transcends the image to become symbol, memory and infinite inspiration.
