Matterhorn
Arrow of Light in Winter
About the work
That day, the weather was mixed and playful. I didn't know whether or not I'd manage to catch a glimpse of the top summit. But I gave it a shot. And as the sun's first rays fell on the mountain, the clouds suddenly cleared, revealing the Matterhorn as an arrow pointing skywards. The clouds still masking the mountain's north face lend an incredible presence to this pyramid, a sculpture of rock that erosion and glaciers have gradually forged.
This is the beauty of the work: nature's interpretation of the Matterhorn. Far more than a flat, objective presentation of the Matterhorn's constituent elements summit, we are invited to discover what lies deep within. Its soul in broad daylight. We can only imagine what it conceals from our gaze. And from the invisible come emotions. The mountain's personality is revealed before our eyes, as we marvel at its beauty.
