This is the Matterhorn, the undisputed king of the Alps, rising 4478 metres above Zermatt. This unique and eternal summit has fed my imagination and inspired my art for so many years. Always different, always surprising. I captured this work from the Riffelberg region. There, the view of the Matterhorn is incomparable.

That day, after a violent storm, the mountain presented itself to me in a mystical aura, shrouded in clouds. Snow, freshly deposited by the winds, covered all sides of the Matterhorn. The play of clouds brings an intense dynamism, bringing life to this rock that has been frozen for millennia. Every element of this photograph contributes to highlighting the perfect balance between light and shadow. The light, particularly soft after the storm, reveals subtle textures on the face of the Matterhorn, while the deep, delicate shadows accentuate the dramatic power of the picture. Rarely have I seen such a perfect contrast in a mountain that doesn't usually give itself away so easily.

I waited patiently for this exceptional moment for years, searching for the precise moment when the elements would enter into perfect harmony. There have been many missed opportunities: snow dissipated too soon by fickle winds, clouds stubbornly masking the summit, or lights refusing to match my artistic demands. But in 2018, this dream finally came true, offering me this masterful portrait. This photograph of the Matterhorn is a tribute to the mountain that has always fascinated me. Its spirit is engraved in me, just as I engrave it through my art.
