A perfect pyramid towering majestically in the heart of the Valais Alps. In the foreground of this magnificent black-and-white photograph is the northern ridge of the Zinalrothorn. Guiding our gaze towards the north face ofObergabelhorn and the Matterhorn, emblematic mountains of the Zermatt and val d’Anniviers valleys. When I look at them like this, I can't help thinking back to the day I climbed them. The Hörnli ridge leading to the summit of the Matterhorn, the route linking the Wellenkuppe toObergabelhorn. So many wonderful memories suddenly come flooding back.

I created this work in late spring. After the snow has fallen in the night, the mountains wake up completely white. It's at times like these that the mountains call to me. For me to immortalize its renewed splendor at daybreak. An ephemeral landscape where nature reveals the beauty of its soul. The north-facing slopes of summits , which remained in shadow during the winter months, are finally back in the light, more striking than ever. The abundant, sumptuous snow gently reflects off their walls, highlighting their inspiring details, the contours of their rocks, their vertiginous lines. Still laden with mist, the sky feeds the picture with a deep, poetic atmosphere.

Obergabelhorn and the Matterhorn become the heroes of a cubist epic. Their assembled faces, from shadow to light, reinterpret reality to give life to the ideal mountain. Queen of the Alps, absolute dream of the mountaineer and muse of the photographer. Through the graphic fusion of these two colossi and their perfect alignment, a new mountain defies the sky for eternity.
