Combin and Panossière
Lights of the peaks
About the work
I painted this picture at daybreak, when the first rays of sunlight illuminate the mountains. The long shadows of the morning endow the painting with an incredible dimension. The lightning immensity of a breathtaking landscape. I was facing Grand Combin after a storm. The mountains were bleached white and the sky ripped open, revealing the purity of renewed nature. Thanks to the winds that were still raging at altitude, I was able to offer the mountains their most beautiful portrait. Tinted with silver, mixed with light and shadow. Through photography, I prolong this moment of grace, which disintegrates as soon as the snow-covered rocks warm up in the sun. I love the depth that emerges from the picture. The different shots that follow one another to guide our gaze to summit Grand Combin . An ice colossus offering an exceptional panorama to those who climb it. I was lucky enough to reach its summit in the summer of 2022. It was an unforgettable experience.
