Dent Blanche
The awakening of the storm
About the work
I took this portrait of Dent Blanche in spring, just before the storm broke. Having put on my touring skis, I was climbing up to the pass below the shoulder of the Zinalrothorn to photographObergabelhorn. Suddenly, sensing that the weather was changing, Dent Blanche began to smoke. The clouds, clinging to its summit, began to cover it. I quickly made my way back down to the Mountet hut and into the valley. I only had a few seconds to immortalize Dent Blanche before it was completely swallowed up by the clouds.
Listening to the mountain, I was able to seize this unprecedented opportunity offered to me by nature. Capture the absolute beauty of summit. Using soft tones, to highlight the power of the impressive Dent Blanche. The photograph is distinguished from my other works by the presence of a foreground that gives it greater depth. This angle of view magnifies the pyramidal silhouette of this monstrous coquette, as Maupassant liked to call it, and enhances the perfect balance of its forms.
