Dent Blanche and Grand Cornier
Celestial Dialogue
About the work
I love the poetry that emerges from this work. The symmetry of the forms, the elegance of the lines. And the echo of the mountains, urging us to defy our limits. The Dent Blanche and the Grand Cornier seem to respond to each other, conversing in the air, seeming to dance on the edge of the stars. Celebrating the immensity of the Alps in unison.
How magnificent the mountains are when the storm redraws them like this. Pure white, evanescent and immortal. As the clouds part, giving way to the sun, the high summits of the Alps reveal all their splendor. It's at times like these that the mountains are at their most beautiful. Bewitching, they draw us in irresistibly. But it's also when they're at their most dangerous. An implacable creature, a merciless ogress. The Grand Cornier and Dent Blanche, a monstrous coquette in the eyes of Guy de Maupassant, keep us at a safe distance. To climb them in such circumstances is to risk the worst. Being swept away by an avalanche, falling into their invisible crevasses or getting lost in the fog - whatever fate the mountain has in store for us, it proves fatal. On this day, summits can be contemplated from afar. So let us dream together of our future ascents, our next adventures, until Dent Blanche and the Grand Cornier once again welcome our footsteps.
