This photograph brings us face to face with Dents du Midi, a mountain range in the Valais Alps whose highest peak exceeds 3200 metres in altitude. The colossal silhouette of summits can be seen from the Vaud Riviera, in the Montreux area, and from vaud alps, around Leysin and Villars-sur-Ollon, in Switzerland.

The Dents du Midi website was where I first set foot in the Swiss Alps over ten years ago. They have remained etched in my mind and heart thanks to the strength they exude. I'm particularly moved by their beauty, and their shape resonates within me, drawing me to them. I created this work in winter, in the early hours of the morning, as the mountain emerged victorious from the onslaught of a storm. The Cime de l'Est revels in the first rays of sunshine, while at this time of year, the north faces of summits are doomed to remain in shadow.

It took me a long time to immortalize these exceptional mountains. For a long time, I searched for the perfect angle that would allow me to convey their celestial power. Then I had to wait for the perfect moment when the clouds were at the right height. Some under the summits, highlighting their prodigious grandeur, others on the ridges, giving the mountain an almost mystical scope. On that day, I was lucky enough to witness a moment of grace, timeless and intoxicating. The play of light and the movement of the clouds give this dazzling portrait its full dimension, artfully revealing the soul of Dents du Midi.
