Dents du Midi and Mont Blanc
About the work
To create this exceptional painting, I had to be patient. Dents du Midi have been haunting my mind for over 15 years. I wanted this work to be an ode to the splendor of the Alps. I'd been visualizing this portrait for many years, obsessing over it. It was essential for me to be present at the right place at the right time. Until the day Dents du Midi revealed its most beautiful side to me. The storm had dissipated. A mysterious veil enveloped Mont Blanc. The Dents du Midi were emerging from the mist, plastered with frost. What beauty! What a unique panorama! I stood before this incredible spectacle. In this black-and-white photograph, one line follows another, punctuated by our imagination. I love the contrast between the verticality of Dents du Midi and the more rounded shapes of Mont Blanc. Each time I contemplate this panoramic photograph, I discover new details. Can you imagine unsuspected materials on the face of Dents du Midi ? Is it rock? Is it wood? Somewhere between dream and reality, our souls lose themselves in the face of this disproportionate splendor.
