Take to the skies at summit of the Mont Rose massif, in the heart of the Valais Alps, in the Zermatt region. The bold Dufourspitze  rises to 4634 metres above sea level on the Swiss-Italian border. The highest summit in the Swiss Alps owes its name to general and cartographer Guillaume Henri Dufour, who drew up the first accurate topographical map of Switzerland. When you have the chance to admire this work in very high resolution, you'll discover the Reine-Marguerite hut, the highest refuge in the Alps, on the Gnifetti point (Signalkuppe in German) to the right of the picture. I chose this viewpoint because it highlights the extreme steepness of the ridge leading to summit de la Dufourspitze. It's a tough climb that only experienced mountaineers can manage. Inaccessible and wild, the high mountains never cease to remind us how humble we must remain in the face of nature's grandeur and the power of the elements.

I took this beautiful photograph one evening in the winter of 2016. As the storm roared on, the clouds suddenly parted, giving way to the mountain, authentic and majestic. The spectacle naturally delighted the photographer. The wind-blown clouds enrich the work with a special dynamic and add depth to the picture. A balance is created between the power of the mountain, a celestial monument of ice and rock, and the force of the wind, crystallized by the clouds. A double face of nature, both visible and invisible, to which we owe the utmost respect.

I particularly like the play of light and shadow that structures the work. At the end of the day, the shadow cast by the mountain gives a special dimension to the image, revealing the tiniest details of summits. Art is also to be found in the photograph's graphic beauty. Between diagonals and horizontals, the work comes to life, offering the eye an exceptional panorama.
