About the work
The impetuous Dufourspitze rises to an altitude of 4,634 metres. It is the third highest mountain in the Alps and the highest point in the Monte Rosa massif. Vertical portrait of this giant and its sparkling glacier.
On this particular day, the Dufourspitze awakens to white light. The light sparkles on the snow and crevasses, taking my heart to the beyond. Despite the unstable weather conditions, a few climbers attempt to scale the summit. These hikers, who set off from the Mont-Rose hut, embark on an ascent with 1,800 meters of positive ascent. Watch their progress along the glacier. They are about to realize one of their most daring dreams.
I particularly like the angle I chose to photograph the Dufourspitze, which highlights the immensity of the glacier. What luck to have witnessed such a spectacle! As I write these words in 2024, six years after taking this photograph, I look back on it with nostalgia. Today, when we look at the Monte Rosa massif with our own eyes, the ice cover has diminished considerably. Its once almost immaculate whiteness is less and less perceptible.
I'm fascinated by the few rays of sunlight reflected on the glacier, that special luminosity that emerges between two storms. I love the contrast between the smallness of man and the immensity of the massif. The Dufourspitze remains one of my favorite summits in the Alps. With this work, I want to show its grandeur and purity. Often photographed in the presence of its neighbor, the Nordend, I have chosen to depict it here alone, to pay it my full homage.

As former inhabitants of Zermatt, it's hard to forget the Matterhorn, even in a new environment of mountains and nature.we discovered this large photo of the Matterhorn in a gallery, so strong and intense, it was impossible to forget it........ We were bowled over!
My wife and I are amazed at the quality of print and the rendering of this magnificent photo. We had waited many years to put a picture on this blank wall because we had never "flashed" on a piece of art. Now we've found it, and it fits in perfectly at the entrance to our apartment. What's more, it depicts 3 summits that are particularly close to our hearts: the Weisshorn, Dent Blanche and the Matterhorn - quite a symbol...
