This panoramic photograph features the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau, three mythical summits in the Grindelwald region of bernese alps, Switzerland. As the first line of defence against the stormy waves from the north, they are often put to the test by the elements.

I created this work in the middle of winter, when the storm was still raging. The clouds and wind were still very present around summits. I named it Château dans le ciel (Castle in the sky) because the mountain emerges from a sea of clouds like a monumental fortress dominating the world and reaching for the stars. I love the atmosphere that emanates from this celestial tableau. It's a rare moment, and all the more moving for it. This is one of my favorite works.

In photographing this exceptional panorama, I wanted to convey the power and grandeur of these fabulous summits Alps, while ensuring gentle contrasts. The more the years go by, the more I try to combine strength and delicacy. It's a daunting challenge, but to my mind that's what makes the work so beautiful. Highlighting the unchanging splendor of the high mountains while respecting their profound nature.
