The Eiger
About the work
I had to wait years before I could take this magnificent photograph as I had imagined it. I wanted the Eiger under a sumptuous blanket of fresh snow. Its north face in shadow, its east face in light. Like ying and yang, the picture reminds us of our own destiny. Under the rising sun, the Mittellegi ridge appears. By photographing the Eiger in this way, I wanted to pay homage to this powerful, hostile and untamable mountain. Yet it fascinates and bewitches me.
The north and east faces guide us towards our infinite thoughts, towards a universe far removed from the chaos of mankind. Our spirit escapes, gets lost, then returns to admire the beauty of this mythical summit bernese alps . Illuminated by the first light of day, lines of purity appear on the sides. The work is vibrant and almost perfectly symmetrical. Every day is a new journey into the world of the pyramids. The mountain invites us on a unique adventure. Beyond rock, ice and time, a natural sanctuary rests, Powerful and large.
