Finsteraarhorn
Equilibrium
About the work
In the spring of 2019, the sun is rising at bernese alps. Today, there's no mist. The mountains are slowly waking up, far from people and sheltered from the wind. They stretch out their shadows, exposing their bleached flanks to the softness of dawn. And from ridge to ridge, our gaze soars to the edge of the sky. The Alps are serene and vibrant.
Alongside the Finsteraaarhorn, we see the Gross Grünhorn and the Hinteres and Grosses Fiescherhorn. These fabulous mountains I've just climbed. Seeing them again like this makes me think back to those days of skiing. Of my uncertainties, and of the absolute happiness I felt when I finally reached their vertiginous summit. In the background of the photograph, the legendary colossi Eiger and Mönch merge into the horizon. The mountains are radiant in this late winter. I love the balance that emerges from its shapes. The play of light and shadow that underlines the splendor of its features. I love the presence of the Finsteraarhorn and its unshakeable brethren, in the rocks and eternal ice.
