Grand Combin
Silver Majesty
About the work
I've been contemplating this massif with admiration for some fifteen years. It's one of the first summits peaks over 4,000 metres that I've had the privilege of immortalizing. Grand Combin never ceases to fascinate me, with its hanging glaciers and seracs adorning its face, creating a unique and spectacular icy aesthetic. In addition to its striking beauty, summit is also notable for its geological peculiarity. Observed from the top of Mont Vélan, you can see the folds resulting from the overlapping of the Tsaté and Mont Fort nappes, impressive evidence of plate tectonics.
After the storm, as the sky begins to clear in the early hours of the morning, a few remnants of the night's turbulence remain. The remaining clouds, like sky artists' fabrics, enrich my work with intense emotion. The deep, low-angled morning light subtly caresses the eastern faces of the mountain. This play of light creates a striking contrast that adds depth to the painting. The silver hues are the result of the evolution of my style over the years. Although they contrast with the power of the mountain, they underline the grandeur and purity of this giant of the Val de Bagnes. Witness the meeting of delicate light and alpine strength.
