Grandes Jorasses
Éclat Sauvage
About the work
Ahead of us, from left to right, lie Pointe Marguerite, Tour des Grandes Jorasses, Pointe Croz, Whymper and finally, the famous Pointe Walker. This color portrait was captured just after a snowstorm, as the summit gradually freed itself from the last assaults of wind and cold.
Immortalizing the raw power of the mountain is often a matter of mysterious and uncontrollable parameters, which I constantly strive to master. But the only real secret is perseverance: coming back again and again, waiting, trying, sometimes failing, until I finally seize that rare moment when alpine magic is revealed. That day, the mountain gave me a fleeting gift. Freshly deposited snow creates a unique texture on the rock, producing a fascinating, fleeting silvery sheen. The painting's striking contrasts reveal the indomitable personality of this succession of iconic summits .
I share with you a poignant portrait of an authentic, untamed mountain, guardian of a world of its own. This Alpine jewel remains an inexhaustible source of wonder and emotion, constantly reminding me why I chose to immortalize these precious moments.
