Royal portrait of the Gummfluh, just whitened by winter's First snows . This emblematic mountain of Gstaad, Rougemont and Château-d'Oex stands on the border between the cantons of Vaud and Bern. A colossus of the Vaud Pre-Alps, the Gummfluh towers above the surrounding summits at an altitude of 2457 metres. At its foot are the ski lifts that run from Rougemont to the Videmanette slopes. From Les Gouilles, the slopes take us up to the snow-covered slopes of the ski area.

I took this photograph of the Gummfluh as if it reigned beyond the world. As if its tip were touching the sky, like the giants that sculpt the horizon at over 4,000 meters. From this work emanates the fragrance of the greatest ascents. The mountain, clad in its blanket of snow, emerges powerful and sumptuous. On a bed of mist, the Gummfluh soars, imposing and proud of its unparalleled stature.

Its verticality fascinates me, its contours dazzle me. I love the winter light that grazes the generous mountain with its shadows. I love the succession of wooded valleys that endow the photograph with extreme depth. Nature's intoxicating murmur guides us to the majestic Gummfluh.
