Explorers of the unfathomable, men venture into the immensity of the Alps. My guide Johann Filliez and his colleague Antoine Délitroz climbed Jungfrau, the emblematic mountain of bernese alps. Facing them are the two peaks of the giant, Jungfrau and Wengen-Jungfrau, prodigious eminences of rock and ice rising from the clouds to touch the sky. I took this black-and-white photograph as an ode to mountaineers and their dazzling muse.

In the shadows, Jungfrau echoes the Aletschhorn, an immaculate colossus at the dawn of winter. As rock responds to ice, as Yin supposes Yang. Blending essence and absolute, the mountain takes us on a fabulous journey. Shots follow one another from our two climbers to the clouds. Alternating textures and tonalities. See how grandiose the mountain is on this day. I love the elegance of its lines, the depth of its curves. Along its ridge, the Jungfrau guides our gaze to the summit of the Aletschhorn. Our odyssey comes to an apotheosis as we face the splendid seracs of its north face.
