Sweeping aside the onslaught of impetuous winds, Jungfrau emerges at the turn of winter. Sublime, colossal, an uncompromising mountain, she ousts the mist to unite with the sun. Queen of Grindelwald and bernese alps, she now aspires to conquer the sky. What patience it took me to photograph her. How many hours I spent contemplating her before being able to capture this portrait.

But masterpieces are born of these moments of grace. From an unheard-of prodigy that we no longer expected. On this bitterly cold winter's day, the hours ticked by. The promise of dawn soon gave way to uncertainty. And when suddenly the bruised clouds parted, I knew she was finally going to reveal herself. Her snow frosted, her sides glistening. How could nature offer such a spectacle? From shadow to light, Jungfrau soared to the edge of the Earth and a divine world. And with my gaze plunged into the depths of its reliefs, traversing its edges and reaching its summit, I photographed it as an artist sculpts his most beautiful muse.

Today I offer you this fabulous portrait as a hymn to Jungfrau, a tribute to the Alps. An unchanging breath that becomes fleeting when it reinvents itself.
