La Haute Route - Halfway point
About the work
From Mont Brulé, I can see Mont Blanc and the Aiguille du Chardonnet on the horizon. So many kilometers from the Col du Chardonnet to the Col de l'Évêque! Days of ski touring, out of time and beyond the world. I don't know where to look, the landscape is so full of treasures. Hidden beneath the clouds, the Otemma glacier takes a breather. Looking back at Grand Combin, I remember going around it two days earlier from the Valsorey hut to the Sonadon pass. Every stage of this exceptional journey comes back to mind and, thanks to this photograph, you too can relive the incredible crossing of the Haute Route from Chamonix to Zermatt.
Everything seems to be in place for an unforgettable journey. The light mist that caresses the mountains and crosses the valleys. The morning glow that adds a touch of sparkle to the pure snow. The perfect alignment of the high summits that infuse the work with a perfume of grandeur and serenity. The reliefs seem to have been sculpted with the aim of guiding me along this road one day, to make this painting a reality. The most beautiful of all.
