The Toûno
Valley Awakening
About the work
I took this photograph after a violent storm. The sky still bears the traces of the meteorological tumult, with these tormented clouds clinging to the summits, the last vestiges of a battle between the elements. This dramatic atmosphere intensifies the contrast between the darkness of the forests in the foreground and the brilliant luminosity of the snow-covered walls. Observe the dialogue between light and shadow. The slopes of Toûno stand out with striking clarity, their immaculate whiteness magnified by the play of winter light. The mountain asserts its presence, like a living entity emerging victorious from the storm's onslaught. The natural lines of the landscape guide the eye through the various planes of the work. From the wooded base to the intermediate slopes to the majestic summit , each level tells a part of the story of this Valais massif. This visual gradation gives Toûno a monumental, almost regal stature.
In immortalizing this summit, I wanted to capture not only its visual beauty, but also its profound soul. Toûno reminds us of the power of our Swiss summits and their eternal beauty.
