The 4000 Bernese
Panorama
About the work
At the dawn of spring, the winds whip up, cloaking summits in a crystalline mantle. When the clouds gradually recede at daybreak, the mountain is reborn, sovereign of a wild and eternal kingdom. Through silvery hues, its crests outline the most beautiful of adventures.
In 2024, I had the immense good fortune to climb these gigantic mountains. The Bernese giants stand on Valais territory. And the ridges between the Kleines-Fiescherhorn and the Finsteraarhorn mark the border between the cantons of Bern and Valais. Faced with this enchanting landscape, it's hard to imagine the considerable distance that separates summits . Faced with the sheer verticality of these rock faces, how can you imagine skiing up them? And yet, this is how men have managed to reach their summits. As spring blossoms, they put on their touring skis to climb to over 4,000 meters. Immensity demands daring, and mountaineers love a challenge.
