Mont Blanc massif
light on the celestial kingdom
About the work
In the foreground, majestic and imposing, Mont Blanc du Tacul reveals its elegant ridge, extending to the foot of the emblematic Aiguilles du Diable and the mythical Grand Capucin, a must-see summit for Chamonix climbers. Beyond this exceptional setting, the eye travels to Mont Maudit and its famous Kuffner ridge, then to the Col de la Brenva, leading finally to the summit of Mont Blanc. To the left, Courmayeur 's Mont Blanc and the discreet but visible Pointe Louis Amédée. Further on, the Grand Pilier d'Angle and the impressive Aiguille de Peuterey come into view.
For me, this work is a gateway to the celestial realm of Chamonix. Here, the granite towers seem to reach for the sky, while the clouds gradually evaporate, revealing a majestic, timeless setting. The storm continues to blow aloft, accentuating the dramatic power of the moment. I particularly like the contrast between the emerging light from the east and the wind from the west. A singular symmetry and a deeply moving atmosphere emanate from these high summits. See how the sea of clouds adds a dreamlike dimension to the scene. It transports our gaze and our spirit to the realm above. There, every summit seems to float between reality and fantasy.
