Massif du Mont-Rose
Scars
About the work
The autumn dawn of 2022 is slowly breaking over the Monte Rosa massif. After a summer marked by relentless heat, new scars have appeared on this glacial giant. The previously invisible crevasses that have now been revealed bear witness to the profound climatic upheavals. Here, nature reveals a new, complex and fascinating face, a Powerful symbol of Alpine fragility and resilience.
The First snows have just laid down their delicate white veil, barely covering the glacier's wounds. This subtle mantle reveals extraordinary plays of light and shadow, highlighting hitherto unrecognized reliefs and textures. I am a privileged witness to this rare moment, when the ephemeral balance between destruction and rebirth, shadow and light, past and future is captured.
In front of us, a prestigious assembly of summits rises proudly: Nordend, Dufourspitze - the massif's highest peak - Zumstein Point, Margherita Hut perched on Gnifetti Point, the two majestic summits of Lyskamm, and Castor and Pollux, like sentinels watching over these eternal lands. At the far right, a discreet glint catches our eye: the legendary Monte Rosa hut.
This exceptional landscape, a living witness to current transformations, resonates deeply with me. More than just a photograph, it's a vibrant tribute to the last eternal guardians of the Swiss glaciers and the Alps, mighty colossi of ice dedicated to preserving the memory of a world in perpetual mutation.
