An evanescent photographic portrait of the Matterhorn, king of the Valais Alps. It rises over 4000 meters above the charming village of Zermatt, in Switzerland. The Matterhorn is one of the world's most famous summits and, in my opinion, the most beautiful mountain there is. Its north face emerges masterfully from the mist. At the center of the picture, the Hörnli ridge guides us skyward.

I took this enchanting photograph of the mountain in autumn, when the highest faces were beginning to don their winter coat. That night, huddled in my tent, I faced the fury of the storm. In the early hours of the morning, when the weather finally calmed down, the Matterhorn suddenly burst through the clouds. It was so clear that I immediately thought of Vincent Munier's photographic work, with its luminous white tones. I felt I had to immortalize the moment. I wanted to inscribe the Matterhorn in the deep, pure atmosphere that can be perceived as bordering on the mystical.

This photographic work is different from the rest of my body of work. Here, power gives way to lightness. The force of the elements to celestial calm. The illustrious summit seems to have been sketched in Indian ink. Retaining only the very essence of the mountain, its soul for all to see. The simplicity of his features endows the portrait with an exceptional graphic quality. The freshness of its contrasts and its resolutely contemporary style make it perfectly suited to any interior.
