Matterhorn
Face à Face Vertigineux
About the work
When I arrived in Switzerland from my native Belgium, the realm of high mountains was unknown to me. But when I met the Matterhorn, I immediately fell in love. I now gaze at summits with a sparkle in my eye and photograph it with a passion. To immortalize their grandeur, to bear witness to their beauty.
To take this photograph of the Matterhorn, I had to wait many years for the conditions to finally come together. On that day, just as a storm had swept through summits, I decided to try my luck by helicopter. Because I'm always on the lookout for the right moment and the right location. Here I was, face-to-face with the mountain. For a unique shot that only the air could offer. A powerful tribute to the verticality and charisma of the Matterhorn. Its north face, illuminated by the first rays of a summer sun, is adorned with fresh snow. Like a diamond from another world reflecting the light of dawn. It gives me great pleasure to share this portrait of the Matterhorn with you. For me, one of the most beautiful mountains in the world.
