Matterhorn - Obergabelhorn - Dent d'Hérens
Ice fortress
About the work
Carried by the autumn winds, First snows illuminates the wilderness. They redraw the contours of the high mountains, repainting their flanks and giving the Swiss Alps a new lease of life. I love summits when they are white. Their sparkling ice, their eternal snow. I like to photograph the Alps when they are regenerating. When the snow, for a time, heals their cracks. Their faults blurred like a sign of hope. I love the light that caresses their flanks. That soft, ephemeral light that, for a moment of grace, sublimates their beauty. The depth of the shadows that reveal their features.
The Obergabelhorn, the Matterhorn and the Dent d'Hérens, fortresses of ice and lords of the Valais. The balance between these three titans is perfect. To achieve this, I spent a long time watching the movements of time, on the lookout for the mountains and the elements. Until nature metamorphosed. See how, in the shadow of its north face, the Obergabelhorn reveals its history. Vertiginous and flamboyant, I immortalise it. So that the imprint of its soul remains forever in our memories.
