Matterhorn
Zebra
About the work
In midsummer, during a snowstorm, I waited alone in my tent, hoping that the Matterhorn would reveal its true face to me. At sunrise, the sky was Light and I greeted the landscape. But the absence of clouds didn't suit me, as my art aims to reveal summits struggling against the fury of the elements. "As the saying goes, "Be patient. So I waited. I waited for the return of the mist in its most artistic form. Finally, the sky began to come alive, filling with clouds to the west, behind the Matterhorn, and to the east, in front of the rising sun. Shadows began their ballet across the mountain's faces. This play of light and shadow sculpted the Matterhorn, giving it its zebra-like appearance.
These moments when the elements come together perfectly are rare. And I cherish them so much. The clouds, ideally positioned, create a moving shadow show on this giant of the Valais Alps. The light plays on the edges, accentuating every detail of the work. The sky behind the Matterhorn oscillates between light and dark.
Time passes, but my emotion for the Matterhorn remains intact. Through my photographs, I want to convey its power and unalterable beauty. To achieve this, I need to be present at the foot of the mountain when conditions are right. When the elements come together in symbiosis, I immortalize this grandiose spectacle for you.
