Mönch and Jungfrau
Dance of the Titans
About the work
I chose to pay tribute to the Mönch and Jungfrau using a panoramic format to highlight their incredible scale. In the foreground of the photograph, the Mönch stands like an impregnable fortress. Our gaze is captivated by the details of its rock, freshly painted by the snow. The shapes and textures are constantly changing with the light and our moods. I was lucky enough to climb this legendary mountain. That day, it was snowing and I found myself caught in a storm. Encircled by the winds, doubt and fear took hold of me. It was a harsh experience, but one I'll never forget. It was like being transported to the heart of my photographs. To experience the intensity of the moments that make up the beauty of my work. In the background of the picture, on the right, appears Jungfrau like a castle dominating the sky. Spreading its sprawling roots beneath a bed of clouds. Barely visible on the horizon, Mont Blanc stands watch at last, more than 100 km away.
I like to convey this grandiose atmosphere through my art. I choose the right moment, the precise location. The angle of view that will glorify the splendor of the mountains. The season when the sun best illuminates summits . Giving life here to the eastern slope when the north face is still slumbering. See the grandeur of this Mönch ridge in the foreground. So difficult to cross. It moves between light and shadow just as I move through life. Finding the right balance between black and white. Contemplating the high mountains to better shape the path of my days.
