Mont de Grange en Majesté
Le Géant du Chablais
About the work
I took this photo on an early winter's morning, when the first rays of sunlight were just grazing the rocks. It's always a great pleasure for me to climb these mid-mountain peaks to reach summit. They offer me an exceptional vantage point over the colossal massifs that reign around them and fascinate me so much. But it's always a challenge for me to succeed in highlighting the richness of these mountains, as I'm irremediably attracted by the excessiveness of the high mountains. The shot is therefore rare and all the more precious.
With this work, I wanted to pay tribute to Mont de Grange. I spent a long time looking for the angle of view that would allow me to sublimate its beauty. Viewed from Châtel, it appears very crushed, but here it reveals all its grandeur. The play of light and shadow on its freshly snow-covered slopes accentuates the rigor of its features. Powerful and eternal, worthy of the highest summits, it seems to rise like a giant close to the heavens.
The framing I've chosen also does it credit. Mont Grange stands at the center of the picture, surrounded by the most remarkable summits in Haute-Savoie. To its left, the Aravis massif and its famous Pointe Percée rip through the sky, and to its right, the illustrious Grand Bargy. Together, they carry him to glory.
