In the shadow of Mont Blanc lurks another peak. The Mont Maudit, an evil mountain pointing its satanic horn at the Alps. Contemplating this black and white photograph, we are transported to the heart of a legend. That of a damned mountain confronting the sky. In the front line, a dark army, the Aiguilles du Diable protect the mountain with their sharp peaks. L'Isolée, Pointe Carmen, Pointe Médiane, Pointe Chaubert and Corne du Diable rise inaccessibly at over 4,000 metres.

I have a strong feeling that we need to get away. Leave Mont Maudit before the abyss invades our souls. Leave the mountain alone to face this mysterious power. For the bad weather seems to be sweeping down into the valley. A strange lenticular cloud covers summit , sweeping its tempestuous winds across the rocky flanks. Light shines through the mist, outlining the robust contours of our cursed creature. Barely revealing its Kuffner ridge, which rises up in front of us, bold and sumptuous.

A masterpiece of nature, a grandiose epic. The fury of the clashing elements, defying Mont Maudit to tame their wrath. In this photograph, where art mingles with the imaginary, the needles reveal their personalities and the mountain its history. The shots follow one another like so many chapters in a fantastic tale in which the queen mountain raises its summit above the clouds. Thundering through the darkness, Mont Maudit will, I feel, emerge victorious from this fierce battle, buoyed by the bravery of the Aiguilles du Diable. This is one of my finest works.
