Mount Rose
Ice Lily
About the work
Our journey begins at the Gnifetti hut, perched in the foreground like a ship on a rock. A witness to the glacier's evolution, as it flows and opens up over the years. Perhaps one day it will disappear. From Punta Giordani, the ridge leads to the Vincent Pyramid, enthroned at the center of the picture. This is the ideal way to acclimatize to the high mountains and feed your eyes with the splendors of the sky. The ridge continues on to other giants. Corno Nero, a rocky peak rising out of a sea of snow. Then the Ludwigshöhe, a glacial prominence marking the border between Switzerland and Italy at 4343 metres above sea level. In the background, dominating the scene and proclaiming their grandeur, rise the Parrotspitze and Zumsteinspitze. While the first summit leads us to the Margherita hut, the highest refuge in the Alps at 4554 metres, the second reveals itself between light and shadow. These magnificent mountains are part of the Spaghetti Tour, and I had the immense good fortune to climb them. 7 summits in 2 days of an unforgettable expedition.
I took this photograph of the south side of Mount Rose to share with you the beauty of this pristine landscape. Just after the passage of an autumn storm, with the sky just clearing. After months of drought, the glaciers are riddled with crevasses. An indelible mark of the drama unfolding, yet one that adds sculptural beauty to this enchanting landscape. Admire this kingdom of rock and ice, constantly changing as it faces the test of time. The still-laden sky contrasts with the purity of the mountains. Through soft tones, I wanted to pay homage to Mount Rose. To the texture of its rock, to its dazzling details. The photograph invites us to contemplate, like an invitation to travel to the farthest reaches of the Italian Alps.
