The Imperial Crown of Zinal
A Moment of Eternity
About the work
I took this aerial view on a spring morning, after the passage of a snowstorm. The first rays of sunlight illuminate the summits mountains, just covered by a thick blanket of snow. Such a beautiful sight can only be seen once or twice a year. It requires very specific conditions of snow, humidity and wind. Even when these conditions are met, each photograph is a unique work of art, because the way in which the faces are illuminated by the sun varies throughout the year. This is the difficulty of the mountain photographer's art. I've been studying these meteorological factors for the last ten years to better understand them. Even so, there's always a certain amount of luck involved in getting a good shot.
Having spent many years in the mountains, capturing the infinite beauty of nature, my search is now sharper and more demanding. I seek to immortalize the exceptional. Against this impressive panorama, the mythical summits of the Swiss Alps appear gigantic. Here, the mountains play the leading role, and their visual impact is significant. The highly graphic photography highlights this succession of prestigious peaks with an interesting interplay of shapes. The summits seem to overlap, forming an impassable rock barrier in the heart of the Swiss Alps. The play of light and shadow intensifies this sensation, giving the mountain a chance to display its strength and charisma.
