This astonishing panoramic photograph portrays mountains in the Swiss Alps on an exaggerated scale. On the left, Dufourspitze and Nordend rise from the heart of the Monte Rosa massif at the end of the Zermatt valley. On the right, the Lyskamm, made up of two summits over 4,000 metres above sea level, is lined with sumptuous hanging glaciers. At their foot lies one of the largest glaciers in the Alps. The Grenz Gletscher, on the border between Switzerland and Italy, runs along the crest of the summits. Faced with inevitable global warming, it is likely to be one of the last glaciers in the Alps. In the distance, we can make out the Signalkuppe, Parrotspitz and Ludwigshöhe. Finally, in the center of the picture, the Monte Rosa hut. Will you be able to see it?

I did this from the Gornergrat. From this classic vantage point, I wanted to reveal the mountains in a new light. To highlight their exceptional scale, which seems so close when in reality they are several hours' walk away. The photograph sublimates the vaporous beauty of these giants of ice, who, united by the same destiny, appear to us to be eternal even though they are fragile.

On this spring morning, the mountain is reborn after a snowstorm that plastered its rocks. It's a white day. A suspended moment when the sky is covered with high-altitude clouds, playing with our landmarks and sensations. I love the unique contrasts that nature offers us in such circumstances. My photography highlights the beauty of the subdued light that caresses the glaciers, sparkling with purity. Close to abstraction, the mountain's features guide our minds to another world.
