About the work
I've been watching theObergabelhorn for several years now. I've often waited for the perfect moment when the pyramid would reveal its finest presence. Until one day, after a storm, the winds granted my wish. The clouds spat flames at theObergabelhorn before covering it completely. The storm had blown with such ferocity that, moments before I captured the scene, the snow had been ripped from the face in places, revealing its thousand-year-old ice. Admire the flowing glaciers. The depth of the crevasses. Through these cracks, you can read its eternal history. From my point of view, this is the most beautiful glacier in the Alps.
The year is 2016. I get up early from the Mountet hut and head for the shoulder of the Zinalrothorn on ski touring. The weather is changing. The forecasted storm alerts me. I can't remain alone at my vantage point, at the risk of getting stuck in the tumult of the high mountains. I get out my camera before it's too late. The clouds play with the summit. My heart beats with adrenalin. That's when the mountain calls me to immortalize it. I take a few shots, then hurry down before the high mountain decides otherwise. Once again, I was only a guest for a few moments, a punctual witness to a kingdom of a thousand wonders.
